The Archives at Berkshire School

This digital archive was created for Berkshire School using customized Omeka Open Source software. The document and image scanning was done on a variety of scanners using VueScan software. Dublin Core Metadata schema is used. 

 

9/11 Living Memorial Digital Archive

The 9/11 Living Memorial Digital Archive was archived and curated by graduate students in the MLS Program at SCSU, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for ILS 652 Digital Archives. The archive was created with Omeka using Dubin Core Metadata schema. The collections and exhibits include memorabilia, provided under an agreement with VOICES of September 11th, commemorating the lives of those who were lost in the attacks on 9/11.

This project was started in the summer of 2009 during an internship with Deborah Herman and the Special Collections Librarian at Central Connecticut State University. The goal was to create a prototype archival yearbook collection and evaluate the feasiblility of a digitization project. This needs assessment resulted in future MLS interns continuing this project.

The Digital Collections at the Hilton C. Buley Library is an online digital collection representing a sampling of the library’s special collections. Accessible online for the first time, this selection was archived and curated by MLS Students of the Spring 2013, Digital Memorials & Cultural Archives graduate course at Southern Connecticut State University(SCSU).

The Veterans History Project at the Elihu Burritt Library

During a three month internship with the Electronic Resources and Information Systems Department at Central Connecticut State University, I worked on several digitization projects including the Veterans History Project, transcribing oral history interviews, creating finding aids, uploading files to CONTENTdm and creating and adding metadata based on the Dublin Core schema.
