Some Thoughts on My Work

"Nancy not only possesses the technological expertise to design a superior website, she also balances this talent with a strong aesthetic sense. The result is a complete presentation that looks sensational and works! She is a joy to work with, is readily available to answer questions, and consistently offers creative ideas as to how to do things better.  I give Nancy my highest recommendation!"

"As a designer she creates visuals which are as beautiful as they are functional, and because of her experience in language arts, she creates and edits text as fluidly. Site design often involves endless revisions which Nancy provides with the same energy, attention to detail and enthusiasm."

"The heart of Nancy’s accomplishment, I believe, has been her design of the entire library website.  She not only maintains the library website but has created entirely on her own an extraordinary set of LibGuides.   Nancy’s LibGuides for my AP courses allow students to log onto the school library website and follow a step-by-step research process.  Her guides begin with directing students on how to find a research topic.  They then help students identify and use research sources.  She even helps teach students how to use online notecard sites and teaches them how to cite their research properly.   Her LibGuides have truly transformed the research process for my students."

I'm a librarian, instructor, web designer, and digital archivist who believes the most important thing I do is connect people with information, whether it's on-ground or online.

I'm a creative problem-solver who prefers working in a collaborative environment. I love the challenge of doing things well and making it easy for people to find what they need in the quickest way possible.

When creating digital resources, I'm drawn to clean, simple designs that are engaging and easy to navigate. I believe it's important to understand an organization's and user's needs first, to ensure the best possible user experience.

In the summer of 2009 and into spring of 2010, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to redesign the Burritt Library interface at Central Connecticut State University to meet the Special Project requirement for my MLS degree. Much of the work I have done since has been informed by the knowledge I gained from working on this project.

Since then, I've been fortunate to continue my work in the field of secondary education and pursue my passion for teaching and creating online resources.

Thanks for stopping by,

Spring 2018

"Nancy has a tremendous web design and development skill set, but more importantly, she draws upon her extensive experience as a school librarian to craft websites that are both intuitive to use and relatable  to students. We implemented LibGuides during the summer that Nancy interned with us, and her education background was indispensable.

We were extremely fortunate that Nancy chose to use the redesign of the Burritt Library’s website as the focus of her special project for her degree in 2010. She completed all of the design work and performed extensive usability testing on the prototype. I am pleased to say that the redesign was a smashing success!"
